Note: 2017's St. Joseph's Novena starts on March 11th and ends on March 20th.

I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that he may grant you in accord with the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner self, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the holy ones what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Lenten Penance Service

Kind Maker of the world, O hear
The fervent pray'r with honest tear
Poured forth by ev'ry penitent
Who keeps this holy fast of Lent.
Each heart is manifest to thee;
Thou knowest our infirmity;
Now we repent and seek thy face;
Grant unto us thy pard'ning grace.
Spare us, O Lord, who now confess
Our weakness and our sinfulness
And, for the glory of thy name,
Our weakened souls to health reclaim.

The Way of the Cross

Whoever wants to be a follower of mine is
to renounce oneself and take up the cross
every day and follow me. For anyone who
wants to save life will lose it; but anyone
who want to lose one’s life for my sake will
save it” (Lk 9:23-24).

Sister Diane Marie Collins
Carrying on the Ministry of Education

The Franciscan Sisters of Chicago have had a long history in the field of education. Over the years, they staffed many parochial schools, providing Sisters for teaching assignments throughout several US states. Sister Diane Marie Collins was inspired early on by the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago who taught her at Sacred Heart of Jesus Grammar School in Gary, Indiana. This led her to eventually join the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago in 1968.

The Human Thread Campaign

The Franciscan Sisters of Chicago is a congregation of Catholic women living the Gospel life and dedicated to serving others for 120 years. We serve the people of God through works prompted by our charism: care for children, the sick, the infirm, and the elderly; and pastoral and social services.

The Franciscan Sisters of Chicago have adapted to the changing needs of society and expanded and refocused its ministry to respond to the changing needs of those served. The ability and need to serve continues to evolve and we are responding with new ministries in the areas of affordable housing, home health, hospice, and various community benefit services.

Guided by its Franciscan spirit, The Franciscan Sisters of Chicago celebrate life and are committed to joyful, compassionate service.
